Projects
You do not apply for a specific project, but for country you would like to complete your voluntary service. Nevertheless, we take account of your wishes and try to find a place for you that matches with your skills and abilities and is consistent with the wishes of our partners. We conduct interviews with returnees and the country heads to help you find a proper place.
The range of projects, we present below is, is supposed to give you a first impression of the areas in which projects are offered. The descriptions are intended to give a first impression, but you also need to know that the planning processes in Latin America and Africa are different than in Germany. There you should not be surprised - if you arrive in the country - and everything is completely different. Your experience will not be the same as that of your predecessors. You bring your own personality and abilities and you will find a different way to get involved in the projects.
The projects are located in the countries of Mozambique, South Africa, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru in the rural and urban areas. Some of the partners, that received weltwärts volunteers are supported by the Welthaus Bielefeld for a long time. The projects are selected by the Welthaus Groups that are in charge of the care and the contact. These groups provide voluntary service and are also involved in the selection and preparation of volunteers. They have good knowledge of the country and act as contacts for any specific questions about the projects. Locally, the projects and the volunteers are supervised by local mentors.
